If you need advice on dating a blogger, then ask the internet.
Awhile ago I made a list on how to date a blogger:
How to Date a Blogger in One Step!
- Don’t.
Not everyone agreed with me, however, so I went looking for more tips in an easy-to-read list format, like the pros and cons of dating a blogger:
Pro: People get to know that they love you.
Con: People get to know that they hate you.
Well, what did you expect a blogger to write about? Someone else’s life? Bloggers are loud and proud, but it’s not all Fast Times at Drama High. There’s another list of 50 reasons to date a blogger girl, and three of my faves are:
9. Blogger girl is actually interesting.
15. Blogger girl likes flirting.
46. Blogger girl can be fantastic in bed.
Yeah, ok, just because I can find it on the internet doesn’t mean I should share it. But what about two bloggers dating each other? One quote from SXSW’s Sex Lives of the Microfamous summarizes the rules pretty easily:
“You can blog about me or you can date me, but you can’t do both.”
…because bloggers share the good and the bad, and that includes messy sex tapes and messy break-ups:
So, let’s say you’re dating a blogger who does not share the details of your relationship. Great. But make sure to stay faithful, or at least avoid having an affair with another blogger, because even if it isn’t being blogged, bloggers still talk to other bloggers:
If you don’t want me to know you’re dating other people, then don’t date other bloggers.
So, does blogging change the rules of dating? Yes, but we must learn to respect boundaries when information is unrestricted because, really, who doesn’t have a blog or Facebook these days?
